Bargaining Update Sunday, August 3, 2008 - 4:45 PM
Update from Washington DC Currently members of IBEW Local 2222 will be working under the provisions of the existing contract. Without a doubt, the fact that we are working and not walking at this time is a direct result of our members and their diligence in helping to make our mobilization efforts such a huge success. The turning point in the process occurred when the company took very seriously the threat of a strike. Verizon observed our members and their involvement in every aspect of our pre- strike activities. The company saw that we were fired up and ready and they know that we will remain at the ready our Bargaining team brings home a contract for ratification by our membership no matter how long it takes. The SOLIDARITY of our members is the key to our strength. Our leadership and bargaining team depend heavily on the support of our membership to give the fortitude needed to bargain for our futures and the futures of our union families. Please remain diligent in your solidarity as we move cautiously forward over the next few days. Keep in close contact with your steward, the web site and the union tape for information All members should plan on attending the monthly union meeting on Wednesday August 6, 2008 at 7pm at the Boston Teacher’s Union Hall Bayside Expo in Dorchester. Remember we’re proven we’re Union, Hang Tough. |
