IBEW and CWA members at Verizon facilities across Massachusetts and Rhode Island have invited all labor activists and supporters of health care reform to join them at events for Health Care Action Day.

The Steward's Army Training is a series of workshops designed to mobilize and educate the membership on what to expect as we prepare for our contract expiration in August.  Please click the link below to view the first workshop.

THE BAR HAS BEEN SET - WAKEFIELD GARAGE ACHIEVES 99% PARTICIPATION IN C.O.P.E. DEDUCTIONS

The challenge goes out to all locations to meet or beat the tremendous response from our members at the Wakefield Garage. At the Union meeting, Myles, Fitzy, and PJ Foley (COPE Chairman) all spoke about the importance of establishing and utilizing our strong relationships with our elected officials as we move toward our August contract expiration.

It is common knowledge by most members that our success during the last go-around with Verizon was largely due to the expertise of our Union Leadership and their ability to call upon those legislators who were able to influence the outcome of bargaining in 2003.

A movement is on in Local 2222 to improve participation in the C.O.P.E activities in the upcoming election cycle. Whether its increasing the contributions members have deducted automatically into the fund or getting more members to help out on local political campaigns in their respective cities and towns. Members are realizing the importance of taking responsibility for their own involvement.

This increase in participation and near perfect result is in direct response to the hard work or many of our active members in the Wakefield area, especially Mike Moran and John Capobianco, and members of the Steward's Army.
