Lead Exposure Testing

Pam Cox, Executive Director, Environment, Health, and Safety for VZ, emailed employees last year with information related to blood testing to detect the presence of lead. Very few members have been tested, but of those who have, some have been found to have elevated lead levels. For your safety, if you have worked around lead, get tested.

To set up a test, please CLICK HERE, or see your supervisor. Each employee will have up to 4 hours of paid time to complete the test.

Please see your steward or call the Union Office with any questions. 617-929-6000

With Deep Regret We Announce The Death of Edward Hastings

Eddie’s family has scheduled a Memorial Mass

on Saturday, February 24th at 4 PM

St. Anne Church – 90 W Milton St, Readville

Eddie Hastings took a job in the mailroom of New England Telephone following high school, thus beginning a career of 40-plus years. Eddie became an SST, Steward, and Chief Steward. In 1997 he accepted the position of Business Agent at Local 2222, then added the role of President in 2015, following the retirement of his dear friend, Ed Fitzpatrick. Eddie earned the respect of the members he represented so well for so long, as well as the respect of management. He had that rare ability to bring people together during a conflict, find common ground, and reach a fair resolution. Eddie worked tirelessly for the membership of Local 2222 until his retirement a few weeks ago, and we are a stronger, better local because of him.

Eddie was a loving son, husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. A man of strong faith, he lived out his call to love his neighbors in so many ways, including volunteering at The Holy Cross Retreat House, My Brother’s Keeper, and so many other charities. As a Friend of Bill, he lived to help others in their recovery, including as the Director of IBEW Local 2222’s Membership Assitance Program.

Please keep Eddie, his family, and his many friends in your thoughts and prayers.

Thank you for the outpouring of support for the Hastings Family

In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Eddie’s memory to:
