They Supported US – Now It’s Our Turn

Support USW – Gas Workers

Rally – Wednesday, July 18th – 4 PM Boston City Hall Plaza

National Grid has locked out their workforce of over 1,000 members represented by United Steel Workers Locals 12003 and 12012. In addition, they also dropped the worker’s health care coverage almost immediately.

The Steel Workers are holding a rally to demonstrate union solidarity for their struggle. It has been scheduled for Wednesday, July 18th starting at 4 PM at Boston City Hall Plaza, followed by a march to the State House.

We know first hand what it’s like to be on the street fighting for our jobs and losing our health care coverage.  We know first hand what it’s like to fight corporate greed. And we also know first hand that we need our friends in the labor community to be successful. Now it’s our turn again to stand in solidarity.

Lockout at National Grid

IBEW 2222 Supports the Locked Out
USW Gas Workers!

usw3National Grid is jeopardizing the safety of our communities by locking out more than 1,200 of its most experienced employees who are critical to ensuring safe and quality gas work in Massachusetts. These workers, members of USW Locals 12003 and 12012, not only protect and maintain key infrastructure, they repair dangerous gas leaks in dozens of cities and towns throughout the Commonwealth.  These highly trained men and women wanted to continue working, but the company has chosen to lock them out and cancel their health coverage, despite earning billions in profit last year.  This is wrong, and IBEW 2222 will support our brothers and sisters at United Steel Workers, USW 12003 & USW 12012.
One day longer, One day stronger – Hang Tough!

Bargaining Update

As you already know, IBEW, CWA, and Verizon began meeting for a two-week period to attempt to negotiate the terms of a possible extension to the collective bargaining agreements that are set to expire in August 2019.  We have agreed with the company to extend negotiations for a few additional days after the holiday.  Meetings are expected to resume in the middle of next week.

We will provide additional updates as appropriate.

Hope you all have a happy and safe holiday.

2222 Endorses MNA Proposal

logo-safe-patient-limitsThe IBEW 2222 Executive Board voted unanimously at their June meeting to endorse The MA Nurses Association’s proposal for safe patient limits.

Today in Massachusetts hospitals, there is no law and no limit to guide the number of patients that can be assigned to a nurse at one time (aside from the ICU). Massachusetts hospitals are facing deteriorating patient care conditions, leading to more complications, readmissions, and errors, as well as longer hospital stays and real life-threatening risks.

IBEW 2222 is proud to endorse the MNA’s #SafePatientLimits proposal.

2222 Supports Boston Public School Bus Drivers

bus drivers rally 1A rally was held in Boston on Friday, June 22nd to support USW 8751 – Boston School Bus Drivers Union members.

Less than 16 hours after the membership of USW 8751 voted unanimously to authorize a strike, following Transdev/BPS’s tearing up of 40+ years of contract justice in their union-busting proposals, outraged drivers and monitors took to the streets of Dudley Square and occupied Boston Public School’s headquarters, days before their contract expiration on June 30th.

bus drivers rally 4USW Local 8751 has always stood with us in our battles with Verizon, and we will be with them as long as it takes to reach a fair contract.
